Which one will look better:
a. 16mm film transferred off a rear projection screen using a variable speed silent projector, shot with a Switar prime lens or a Bell & Howell zoom reflex lens, or
b. R8mm film transferred using a WorkPrinter, shot with a Bolex H8 REX 4 with Switar Primes, or
c. S8 film transferred using a WorkPrinter, shot with a Nikon Zoom 8?
Those are a lot of variables. The same video camera would be used for all of the above.
I have limited experience transferring 16mm film to video and am forced to use the old methods for that format.
It'd be neat to see them all in one movie. Each different 'actor' would have one specific way of seeing the world, a format of film/camera/transfer way of seeing.
Just how bad a job does a Brownie R8 camera do next to a Switar H8 prime?
Those are some of the musings of a collector.

Those are a lot of variables, and a person would have experience with all of those to honestly answer the question, but my feeling is that 16mm is so much better than Super 8, that if all the 16mm & S8 footage was well shot, there is almost nothing reasonable that would make the 16mm look worse than the S8 footage.
I mean, you would almost have to TRY to screw it up.
